Terms & Conditions

Artist Terms & Conditions

We’re excited to support local artists at Yar Art Hub! Please review the following terms before applying.

1. Membership Types
Artists exhibiting at Yar Café are welcome to join one of our Membership Types.
Membership is optional, but it provides additional benefits and long-term engagement opportunities within the Yar Art Hub community.
We offer two membership types:
Artist Members – Artists who wish to stay connected with future exhibitions, enjoy priority scheduling, and have a profile on Yar’s website.
Community Members – Individuals who contribute to Yar’s creative community through support, engagement, or volunteer involvement.
Membership includes a profile on Yar Café’s website and access to exclusive benefits (see Section 9).
All personal information collected will comply with the BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

2. Application & Review Process
Applications must be completed in full. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications without a membership sign-up will also be considered incomplete.
The Yar Art Hub team reviews applications.
。 Accepted works must meet basic criteria:
Original artwork, ready to display, safe for public, and respectful (no offensive, violent, or racist content).
。 Artists will be notified of acceptance or decline via email.
。 Declined submissions are not a reflection of artistic value, but rather of limited space and fit with the café’s theme and atmosphere.
After their exhibition ends, artists may notify Yar by email if they wish to be placed back on the waiting list.

3. Exhibition Duration & Collection
Standard exhibition periods are four (4) weeks unless otherwise agreed.
If Yar Café is closed for holidays, renovations, or unforeseen events, those days will be added to the exhibition period.
Artists are fully responsible for installing and removing their works. Installation and removal must take place outside of Yar Café’s business hours.
All works must be collected on the final day of the exhibition. If works are not collected on time, Yar Café reserves the right to remove them from display. YAR Café will not be responsible for storing or safeguarding works after removal.
To respect other artists scheduled to exhibit after them, the timely removal of works is mandatory.

4. Artwork Guidelines
Works must be presentation-ready (framed, wired, or otherwise safe to display).
Due to limited space, YAR Café may set maximum size and weight restrictions.
All artworks must be safe for public display and pose no hazard to customers or staff.
Artists must provide any special hardware or materials needed for installation.
All works must be appropriate for a café and community setting (no explicit, offensive, or disturbing content).
Works must be easy to install and remove without causing damage to the café space.

5. Sales & Commission (20% + tax)
 • Sales Tracking
The Yar Art Hub team records all sales.
Artists may request a sales report at the end of each month.
 • Commission
Café Shelf Sales: A 20% + applicable tax commission applies if a work is sold.
Wall Art Sales: A 20% + applicable tax commission applies if a work is sold.
Commission is calculated based on the pre-tax sale price.
All commissions are subject to applicable Canadian taxes.
Transaction fees (e.g., credit or debit card processing) are deducted from the artist’s payout.
 • Payment
Artists are responsible for providing accurate banking information.
Payments (minus commission) are made within 30 days after the exhibition period ends.
If no works are sold during the month, no payment is issued.
No additional or hidden fees apply beyond what is stated here.

6. Liability & Security
Yar Café will take responsible care in handling and displaying artworks, but is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage.
Yar Café does not provide insurance; artists are fully responsible for insuring their own works if they wish to have coverage.
The café is equipped with security cameras (CCTV), and shelves/displays are positioned in visible areas monitored by staff.

7. Promotion & Marketing
Yar Café may share and promote artists and their works through our website, social media, and in-café displays to help build community visibility.
All promotions will always credit the artist’s name. There is no additional payment for promotional use.
Yar Café decides how and where works are promoted and may choose not to promote specific pieces.

8. Membership Approval & Eligibility
Membership is not automatic; all applications are reviewed and approved by Yar Art Hub.
There are two types of membership:
Artist Members: Applicants whose artwork has been accepted for showcase or sale through Yar Café.
Community Members: Applicants who may not showcase artwork but demonstrate a clear intention to contribute to and engage with Yar’s artistic community.
Membership benefits, including café discounts, are available only to active members who remain engaged with the community.
Members must collect their physical Yar Membership Card at the café to access benefits. Discounts will not be applied without the card.
Yar reserves the right to decline, suspend, or revoke memberships if members are inactive or no longer aligned with the community’s vision.

9. Member Benefits
Approved Art Hub Members gain access to:
An artist profile featured on the Yar Café website.
Reduced hosting fee for workshops (15% instead of 20% for non-members).

They acknowledge that Yar Café provides no insurance and is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to artworks.
They accept full responsibility for the quality, authenticity, installation, and timely removal of their artworks.
